The Ardèche Region, called after its most impressive river, is situated in the South-East of France, near the valley of the river Rhône with its famous wines. The Mediterranean is just a three-hour-car-ride away – a pleasant trip right across one of the country’s most lovely landscapes, the Provence. Lyons (international airport), after Paris the biggest French city, can be reached in two hours by car.

Spreading
on just a few square kilometres, one can find a rich diversity of
landscapes: vast limestone plateaus with sparse vegetation as well as
fertile river valleys whose slopes are lined by terraces built in
former centuries to grow chestnuts; picturesque rock formations, and
once and again steep slopes dug even by small rivers into the soft
limestone ground. This intact natural environment crossed just by a
couple of roads and lanes is a true paradise for wild boar – as is
mirrored in the fantastic regional recipes for wild boar dishes.
